It has been a fantastic year for the beef breed Simmental, celebrating 50 years of Simmental’s in Australia, the feature breed for the 2022 Royal Queensland Show in August and this month, they are celebrated as Norman’s Best Breed for 2022.

During our Norman’s Best Breed competition earlier in the year, guests were offered a skewer with four 40gram pieces of rump steak representing four award-winning breeds Simmental, Speckle Park, Brahman & Santa Gertrudis. Guests were presented with a voting card to rate the four breeds on flavour, tenderness and overall like.  At the end of the month, votes were tallied, with Simmental taking first place just ahead of Speckle Park.

If you want to try Simmental beef, this month a 400gram rump will take centre stage of our meat cabinet and will feature on our menu served with Norman’s traditional sides.

It is extremely good eating, and we wish to thank JBS Australia, Simmental, Speckle Park, Brahman and Santa Gertrudis for their involvement. Ultimately we could not have run this promotion without the assistance from JBS Austalia, who was able to isolate the breeds for this competition.
